How to get from Athens via Sparta:
You can reach Kosmas, coming via Sparta (about 52km). On the river Evrotas before the city of Sparta, turn left to Parnonas. Passing through picturesque villages, we ascend and in less than an hour we reach Kosmas.
Alternatively, you can come from the New National Road Corinth - Tripoli, turn before the junction of Nemea to Argos. We continue on the old National Road Corinth - Tripoli and after the Mills we take the road to Astros. Following a satisfying route in pictures, we reach Leonidio. Going up Parnonas, we face the balcony of Kynouria Kosmas having traveled a total of 259km. The road from Leonidio to Kosmas crosses the imposing gorge of the river Dafnonas, passing through amazing landscapes, bridges, spectacular rocks and dense vegetation.
This is an excellent route but quite slow as the road is narrow and full of closed turns. The road passes through the famous monastery of Panagia Elona and then goes up to Parnonas in a magnificent fir forest. The road after Elona, offers unobstructed views of the southern peaks of Parnon and the mountains of Zarakas, leading to Kosmas. The same route, through Leonidio, applies to those coming from the Northern Peloponnese.
